Mycoprotein, a high-quality protein source, is a socially relevant and sustainable substitute for meat. The scope of the project consists of office buildings, a tank farm, CIP installation, production building incl. reactors and centrifuge, packaging & freezing area, cooling towers, etc. The start-up for the complete site is planned for June 2022.
Koen Maes, project manager of project UNITY: “Sweco has recently been awarded the full EPCm scope, which makes us responsible for the Detailed Design and Procurement of the technical installations. Our services also include Construction Management, Commissioning and Start-up assistance.”
Filip Verheyen, Division Director Industry at Sweco Belgium, is excited to collaborate with ENOUGH: “This project is a major win, not only for Sweco and our Industry division but also for a sustainable future for our society. Next to realising a zero-waste production process, the final product will be a more environmentally friendly substitute for meat. The realisation of a zero-waste production process such as this one perfectly fits within Sweco’s vision for the future. This makes us extra pleased to participate in this unique project.”
Sweco will closely cooperate with third parties Heinrich Frings GmbH & Co. KG, who will provide the fermentation process’ design, and KOCH Adviesgroep, who will take on the civil and architectural design.
